Excellent, this makes me look forward to my commute tomorrow! Seems like a fun topic too.
Ashley, any word on the status of Out of the Game?
Cheers, keep up the good work!

awesome =-)) excited for the poster too
Posted by Ethan Prevenslik November 25, 2009 at 3:29 PM
Podcast and posters woo but the 5th one is $15 more. The sheer coolness of it won me over though.
Posted by Lee November 25, 2009 at 3:37 PM
@Lee This poster is also twice the size, it’s 18×24 instead of the usual 12×16, so well worth it! Like you said, the sheer coolness of it wins over all. Still hanging out for poster 2 though, damnit.

Amazing episode as usual. Loved the Steve Ritchie interview.
Really love when you talk to devs like this.
Desert Bus segment was great too.

hurray, I know it wont disappoint.

Podcast downloaded, poster purchased! Excellent start to the holiday weekend.

Another thoroughly enjoyable episode, and another facet of gaming and gamers. Gotta love the idea behind the Desert Bus for Hope (wow are they doing well this year), and I am a Williams pinball fan. Not playing games for a year, though… I rearranged my schedule in order to fit more games into it, so what do I know? Thanks for all the work, it’s appreciated. It’s also seeing me through more geeky craft projects.
(And my mother, who’s never really played a game in her life? A fan of this show. And she wants a DS. Score.)

I was stuck at work and now the poster is sold out???
Posted by Mleugi November 26, 2009 at 1:19 AM
robert is pure dope, these shows are just getting better… in awe of the editing // nice site redesign btw
Posted by Admiral Skittles November 26, 2009 at 2:24 AM
I don’t know if this has ever been suggested, or is ever likely to actually happen, but I think “A Life Well Wasted”/Area 5 crossover could be one of the greatest things to ever happen.
Just throwing it out there.
Posted by Jordan November 26, 2009 at 2:53 AM
Absolutely amazing! Thank you so much!
Posted by Jan November 26, 2009 at 4:14 AM
Oh no! The posters are sold out!
I’ve been waiting for this one for weeks… Guess I’ll have to be content with the podcast.
Posted by Andrew November 26, 2009 at 5:17 AM
another great episode, Bobitto! Can’t wait for that poster, so good. Perhaps for those who couldn’t order on time, a re-issue would be cool.
Posted by Raf November 26, 2009 at 7:56 AM
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Have another reprint of these posters! I waited forever for one and then they were sold out…
Posted by Kiel November 26, 2009 at 7:56 AM
Is they any chance of more posters been made. I want one, but was too late. WHY 200? WHY NOT 400?!
Posted by Dan Barker November 26, 2009 at 8:54 AM
There are all sorts of things that go into deciding a # for a limited print run. Production costs, sales price point, collectability, etc. My guess is that based on the sales rate of the previous posters, 200 looked like a good amount. But like Robert said, Olly simply hit a home run with this one, and it was gobbled up much quicker.
Posted by Eric November 26, 2009 at 11:49 AM
Man I just found out that the new episode is up, wish I was in time for the poster, but oh well. I hope the next poster will be better or just as good. Can’t wait to listen to the episode!
Posted by phillip November 26, 2009 at 12:08 PM
Poster sold out really fast! Second printing please!
Posted by Paralax November 26, 2009 at 12:25 PM
Please Please Please do a second run of that poster, it’s amazing and I’m sure you’ll sell out again!
Posted by moonmonkey November 26, 2009 at 1:13 PM
As much as I wish these came out more often, they are always worth the wait. Awesome stuff, made my Thanksgiving that much better.
Posted by Dick Ward November 26, 2009 at 2:25 PM
Another great episode. They remind me of a radio show on the CBC, only about topics I can easily connect with. Thank you.
Posted by Dane Clark November 26, 2009 at 6:56 PM
Thinking about a reprint in a different color. We’ll see.
Posted by Robert Ashley November 27, 2009 at 12:13 AM
PLEASE DO! A second run of the posters that is. God had i only pre-ordered huh?
Posted by Teng November 27, 2009 at 1:55 AM
at last!

great interview with Steve ritchie. If pinball people fit your profile: check thepinballblog.com. lots of other pinballindustrypeople there. As a pinball loving dance music producer / DJ my life is well wasted too
Posted by Joe Nathan November 27, 2009 at 3:46 AM
really great episode, robert. the interview with steve ritchie exalts the imagination … genuinely really inspiring.
you mentioned at the end of the show that you were after some new subject matter. I think an episode on the market and methods of video games could potentially be pretty interesting. you could research HOW and WHY people make and sell games. it would be pretty interesting to hear about how both the independent scene and the corporate scene operate. maybe even how certain methods have inspired “video-game revolution” … in the form of art maybe … you could track down some indie developers pretty easily.
anyway, that’s what I’d be interested in, even though it probably doesn’t help you much.
Posted by ben November 27, 2009 at 3:49 AM
Oh rats man, the second I saw that poster I immediately looked to the merch section. That sold out ridiculously quick. If it’s financially feasible I would love a reprint of that. In the same color if that’s okay.
Posted by Zenin Murawski November 27, 2009 at 4:37 AM
Reprint! I have been checking for the poster to come up for days! Now they’re all gone
Posted by fran November 27, 2009 at 9:11 AM
But a reprint would dilute the value to those of us who were diligent and paid our $40 to get one of the 200 originals
Just like with limited edition books, I’d be upset if I went through the trouble to ensure I got my copy, and then the publisher decides to release another 10,000 copies after the fact.
Posted by Eric November 27, 2009 at 10:34 AM
@Eric: We definitely want to keep the ALWW posters special, so we’re not going to run out and mass manufacture a thousand copies. If we do a reprint, it will be in a completely different color scheme, and it will be a small run, like the first.
I need to strike a balance between keeping the posters special and giving people a decent chance to have one, if they want one.
Also, selling more posters means potential gains for the show. I could maybe afford to travel somewhere for a really cool interview, etc.
Posted by Robert Ashley November 27, 2009 at 10:57 AM
Yes a reprint would be awesome, I’m sad that I missed out.
Posted by Watts November 27, 2009 at 11:26 AM
Having the poster for rarity only is like saying candy can only be enjoyed by children. I can understand not printing a whole lot but if the demand is overwhelming, why not satisfy the fans with a great poster. Not reprinting would only be a shame as not everyone has the same chance in getting one the hour the podcast comes out.
A reprint would give others the opportunity for a great poster, would produce more income (however little that may be), and would spread the word for Robert and Olly, potentially get more people to listen.
I was referred to this podcast by a friend and all he gave me was the preview of the 5th episode poster.
Posted by Andrew November 27, 2009 at 12:05 PM
I understand the need to keep things special, but man that blows.Besides we all know that the people who bought the original one will probably go and buy the second run as well.
Posted by Zenin Murawski November 27, 2009 at 3:48 PM
Great episode Mr Ashley. Just wish the poster wasn’t sold out
Please do a reprint and email me FIRST!!!!
Posted by Devon November 27, 2009 at 11:52 PM
Came here from Desert Bus for Hope. Expected it to be just another gamer interviewing people and just posting essentially the raw audio. I was /blown away/ by the production quality. It’s very much like NPR’s This American Life or Radio Lab but with stories about geeks.
Great job!
Posted by Billthecrazycat November 28, 2009 at 1:04 AM
just wondering, how soon will the posters ship? thanks!
