Fantastic program. I’m starting to sense a little “Radio Lab” influence.
Love the new site. I’ll have to get one of these posters. The EGM one is amazing.

@4thVariety: I have considered adding a slideshow element to the iTunes version. That might happen in the future, but first I need to start creating galleries for each episode on the site. I do want people to be able to see the stuff I’m talking about, but I don’t want it to overwhelm the audio/imaginary experience.

Another great show.

Awesome show Robert. I’m glad you did a piece on cosplayers.
Posted by Thomas September 2, 2009 at 11:22 AM
This needs to be on NPR.
Posted by Courtney September 2, 2009 at 11:22 AM
damn good show and good music too.

Robert, you have out done yourself this time. The production of this episode is really great. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for another brilliant radio show, Robert! I think your it’s best yet.

This show is just Awsome
Posted by Same September 2, 2009 at 5:21 PM
NPR should be paying you to do this shit. Beautiful production.

This new episode cements the singular awesomeness of ALWW.
Posted by Chombleton Harribold September 2, 2009 at 8:27 PM
Phenomenal show! If your not aiming to get yourself syndicated, don’t be surprised if that ends up happening anyway. You easily match and exceed many of the best radio shows out their! Keep up the great work (and if you ever take real applications for an intern, I’d be the first to apply)
Posted by Clayton September 2, 2009 at 8:57 PM
you’re! there!! you’re! there! Damn not being able to edit comments!
Posted by Clayton September 2, 2009 at 8:59 PM
Great episode man. Keep the art prints coming too. Can’t wait till episode 3 art print is available.
Posted by Devon September 3, 2009 at 3:18 AM
Another fantastic episode, Robert. After listening to ALWW I feel like I know the people you’re featuring rather than knowing about them. Keep up the great work.
Posted by John September 3, 2009 at 11:26 AM
Great episode, although the subjects covered in the near perfect episode three interested me more. Keep on making more episodes!
Posted by Jonathan September 3, 2009 at 11:49 AM
Great stuff.
‘This American Life’ for the tech/gamer/geek set.

So much class and style, he’s magnificent!
Posted by SupaGeek September 3, 2009 at 3:06 PM
Another amazing episode, ALWW is the best gaming related “thing” I’ve discovered across any media form for as long as I can remember — I hope this is the start of something big.
Posted by Dave September 3, 2009 at 3:44 PM
Incredible work as usual. Thankyou so much for taking the time to make these amazing bits of audio.
Posted by LazyAza September 3, 2009 at 4:42 PM
You now have an obligation to continue this. I can’t imagine not having A Life Well Wasted to listen to. I have listened to your shows multiple times each. Please continue the fantastic work.

Really, really enjoyed listening to your show. Great work on content, production, everything… Can’t wait for the next one.
Posted by dropshadow September 4, 2009 at 7:04 AM
Fantastic. The editing and production on this podcast are unmatched. THANK YOU ROBERT!!!
Posted by Dave September 4, 2009 at 8:44 AM
You probably get this a lot, but there’s something about your voice that makes you sound like you’re totally wasted out of your mind 24/7, not that I have anything against that. Love the show though and I have to agree with some of the other commenters that this was the best episode yet as far as music and editing goes. However my favourite moment was your interview with Jason Rohrer. There’s really only one thing I could complain about, and it’s the fact that I have to wait way to long for each new episode.
Posted by Omar September 4, 2009 at 8:47 AM
Some really great stuff. You continue to improve your own unique style. Please keep doing it.
P.S. Where/how can I get my hands on those poster prints?
Posted by Taylor September 4, 2009 at 9:44 AM
Anyone know what that song is that plays for a few seconds? “I don’t break bricks on the mario… Atari-o”
Posted by Darren September 4, 2009 at 11:07 AM
Fuckin Brilliant. Can’t wait till numero 5
Posted by Kyle September 4, 2009 at 12:51 PM

I hate you and love you, you brilliant man
Posted by phranq September 4, 2009 at 10:16 PM
Robert – ep 4: Your finest work yet, filled as always with heart and humor. (and crazy ass production elements! good god man!) You could go the easy route and point a mic at things, edit and click Post to iTunes but it just wouldn’t be ALWW.
Posted by Agitator Academia September 5, 2009 at 5:51 AM
Great work, Robert. I was so excited to see this feed updated. I’ll echo the other commenter about the “Radio Lab” influence, and I can’t think of a higher compliment. Love this show.

It goes without saying that the show is fantastic, but I’d just like to praise the artwork that’s been made for the episodes. Beautiful. I’ve pinned them to each episode in iTunes, and although only the newest one is viewable (and on the ‘album’ page at that), it still helps enhance the experience in a small but significant way.
Oh, and if by any chance you remember me; I’ve got broadband now – and only yesterday found Out of the Game. Small joys!
Posted by Ray September 6, 2009 at 5:44 AM
I love you Robert Ashley! Come back to Out of the Game!
Posted by David September 6, 2009 at 11:18 AM
The best podcast i have ever listened to. Please continue to make this.

Good stuff Rob. I can’t think of anything to say besides, thank you.
Posted by Isaiah September 6, 2009 at 8:13 PM
Thank you so much for this podcast. I never knew what went on in the minds of cos-players.In the past I was weirded out by cosplayers, now I have a certain appreciation for them.
The way that girl talked about cosplaying made me want to go out and do it myself…
You really have a way to let people open up to you Robert. Awesome work!
Posted by Anand September 7, 2009 at 2:39 AM
Anyone know where the heavy metal cover of the Zelda theme is from? That was awesome.
Posted by Jesse September 7, 2009 at 7:46 AM
Robert, how do you feel about adding a song list of what you use to every episode, since I often hear bits of stuff that sound awesome?
Posted by Jesse September 7, 2009 at 7:47 AM
Amazing as always Robert. I really hope you wind up with a bi-weekly show on NPR one day.
Also for fans of the show a little gem can be found at http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3148397 Podcast: 06/26/2008. This is early ALWW with the always interesting Shawn Elliot co-interviewing. This made me so happy listening to it at work. I hope you can collaberate with him again. I also like the early version of, “Your Lazy Eye” heard within. Very cool.
Thanks again dude.

@Jesse: The music in the show is made just for the show (by myself and my bandmate Sam Frigard), so none of it is titled, and it’s only available in the show itself.
Posted by Robert Ashley September 7, 2009 at 10:25 AM
@Jesse: I found it on YouTube. Just look up “Zelda metal.”
Posted by Robert Ashley September 7, 2009 at 10:26 AM
Just great! Thank you so much for this!
Posted by Jan September 7, 2009 at 4:29 PM
I love these episode posters. They all have real cool designs. It makes me want to buy them all and frame them for display.
This is the best VG-related podcast I’ve ever heard.
Posted by TripMasterMunky September 7, 2009 at 5:45 PM
Jeri Ellsworth sounds like a fucking amazing human being.
Posted by Stravinskies September 7, 2009 at 11:33 PM
Bravo again to another incredible episode. Your production standards really are second to none.
As an experienced podcaster and producer myself, it boggles the mind as to how much effort you put into mixing these episodes. There must be HOURS & HOURS & HOURS of editing and mixing going on in this episode. The combination of music and effects is so superb I am now constantly playing your show to other producers to demonstrate how far someone can take the medium.
Again, incredible work.
